Jeison Aristizábal Named 2016 CNN Hero Of The Year

This young man has truly proven that disability is not a limitation!!!!!
Meet Jeison Aristizábal  from Cali, Columbia who has been named the 2016 CNN Hero of the year. The 33 year old who has defied the doctor's words to his mother that he would amount to nothing, has broken down barriers by bringing hope to other disabled children and is currently about to graduate as a lawyer.
Growing up with cerebral palsy, Jeison was determined to overcome every obstacle in his path and since 2001, his non-profit ASODISVALLE (an acronym that translates to Association of Disabled People of the Valley)  has offered a range of free services that have transformed the lives of  about 3000 young people with disabilities and their families.
While accepting his award, Jeison revealed that when he began to question God about his disability, he had an epiphany. "Today I realize God chose me to help children with disabilities and their families and build a chain of dreams. I am about to graduate as a lawyer, and I want to do more to change my country's laws."
And his words to anyone who wants to make a difference: "Sometimes when we see a big problem, we feel like we can't do something, but starting with the little things, helping fix the little things, we can transform many lives."

9jaflave Soliloquy - The Power Of Compassion (2)

Everyone will remember this image showing Danish aid worker Anja Ringgren Loven, giving water to a little boy who had been wandering the streets for 8 months in Akwa Ibom, Nigeira.

The 2 year old boy was abandoned by his parents who thought he was a witch. He was found sick with worms and malnutrition. Anja named him Hope and today that same child is doing so well.

Anja is the founder of the African Children's Aid Education and Development Foundation (ACAEDF)  and has dedicated her time and resources to helping abandoned children accused of witchcraft in Nigeria. Yesterday she was named by OOOM Magazine as the  world's most inspiring person 2016 alongside President Barack Obama, Pope Francis and others. She shared the good news on her facebook page.

We may be many worlds apart, but the power of compassion can easily flow from one heart to another.

We may be of a different colour and race, yet the power of compassion can create bonds that will last foerever.

We may be lost and in search of many answers, but the power of compassion can create pathways to destiny.

Many are broken and wounded while others are dying. Others have been called what they are not, as they fight to find their place in a lonely world. Now is the time to turn on the power of compassion.

It only takes a word, a gift, a hug, a smile, a donation, a prayer and your influence to light up someone's world. One little act of kindness can change a life forever. Let us all turn on the power of compassion.

Happy New Month!!!!!

Welcome to the month of December and yes we made it.
I woke up this morning with a grateful heart. I ran through January to today and I was convinced that showing gratitude was the way to go.

Be grateful that you have life in you.
Be grateful for a sound mind.
Be grateful for love.
Be grateful that you can still dream again.
Be grateful for shoes on your feet.
Be grateful for food on your table.
Be grateful for priceless moments.
Be grateful that you made it this far.

It's 30 days to the end of the year and I pray the few days left in this year will be meaningful to you. May you keep hope alive, May you remain strong, May you keep fighting for your dreams and visions and may you find those answers you have been searching for. Have a great month!!!
