9jaflave Soliloquy - The Power Of Compassion

I once read about a young boy from India, Mahendra Ahirwar who suffered from a rare condition called congenital myopathy, a condition that made his neck muscles weak, making his head hang at a 180-degree angle. He was bathed, fed and dressed by his mother. He couldn’t go to school like other children his age.

And then I read about a woman, a mother from the UK, Julie Jones who was touched by this young teenager's story and decided to do something about it. She set up a crowd-funding page for Mehandra in a bid to raise money for a surgery that could give him a new lease of life. Within 28 days, the page had raised 12,000 pounds.

Two continents apart and the power of compassion is felt deeply. It simply flows from one woman’s world to a young boy’s heart. Today Mehandra is able to sit with his head hanging upright and can now dream again. In his words:  ‘I had no hope of getting better in life but now I’m ok  and my dreams have risen up. I want to be successful in life now.’

We may be two worlds apart, different in the colour of our skin and even in our beliefs, our languages may not even sound alike, yet compassion can break those boundaries.

Many are sick while others are dying, thousands of children go through each day with no education and many are daily fleeing their war torn countries. Some are broken, others have lost hope and many are in need of encouragement. Now is the time to turn on the power of compassion.

It only takes a word, a gift, a hug, a smile, a donation, a prayer and your influence to light up someone's world. Let us turn on the power of compassion.

Lanre Olusola's 5 Important Lessons On Fatherhood

Life coach and motivational speaker popularly called The Catalyst, Mr. Lanre Olusola, shared about his journey as a father in a recent Punch interview. He believes fatherhood is a responsibility and also a privilege.
Below are 5 important lessons he has learnt from being a father. Go here for the full interview.
- The first lesson is that one must learn fatherhood from being a good father to one’s wife.
- The second thing is that fatherhood is a partnership; one is not the lord, because parenting is partnership. Fatherhood is useless without motherhood and vice-versa.
- The third thing is ensuring that one has a relationship with one’s child and one encourages one’s child’s relationship with his or her mother and all have a relationship together.
- The fourth thing is that a good father is one that creates a stable, functional and enabling environment for the good nurture of everybody; physically, spiritually, mentally, psychologically, intellectually, and emotionally.
- The fifth one is that fatherhood is about mutual respect. One has to show respect towards the children’s mother; her beliefs, strengths and weaknesses because one must lead by example. It is not about what one says but also about what one does. One must also respect one’s children and lead by example.

9jaflave Soliloquy - The Person You Want To Become

You are not your past and you can choose to leave it behind.

You are not your yesterday and you can choose to tell it goodbye.

You are not your fears and you can choose to conquer them.

You may be held captive but you can choose to set yourself free.

You may be your own limitation but you can choose to break loose.

You are not who you used to be, so define who you want to become.

You are not the same person, so change the pictures you see.

You are much more than you can see, so step into the shoes of that person that you can become.

You are someone’s answer, someone’s solution, someone’s miracle and someone’s inspiration.

Believe in that person that you want to become.

9jaflave FFT - Leave Your Comfort Zone

Today's Food for Thought - Leave Your Comfort Zone.

Someone said, "Life begins at the end of your comfort zone", and yes great things will begin to happen in your life when you choose to get out of your comfort zone.

Are you willing to step out and grow or remain where you are and stay stagnant? Are you willing to discover a new you and break barriers or you just want to be that same person and stay with the status quo?

Life will truly happen outside your comfort zone ,so get up and leave that place.

9jaflave Soliloquy - Push Yourself

Push yourself and do the impossible.

Push yourself and break boundaries.

Push yourself and crush limitations.

Push yourself and climb mountains.

Push yourself and create pathways.

Push yourself and show others the way.

Push yourself and soar higher.

Push yourself and discover who you truly are.

Push yourself and become an inspiration.

Push yourself and leave marks in the sands of time.

Push yourself and do it now.

Push yourself because no one else will do it for you.

9jaflave Soliloquy - Let Adversity Introduce You To Yourself

Life is a journey, and on that journey, there will be rough roads, bad terrains and mountains to scale. There will also be difficult times, challenges to overcome and times of adversity. Weep not in that moment but let that adversity introduce you to yourself.

The Power of Adversity :Ufuoma Fijab

Tough times will reveal the depth of your strength.

Rough times will reveal the tenacity of your faith.

Hard times will reveal the audacity of your hope.

Challenges will show you how deeply rooted you are.

Trials will show you how life works.

Pain will show how resilient you are.

Adversity will reveal who you really are.

Adversity will show the strength of your character.

Adversity will also introduce you to yourself.
