9jaflave Soliloquy - Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying

I saw the movie ' The Shawshank Redemption' a few years ago and I must say that it was worth every minute of my time. The movie has some unforgettable lines and this one above happens to be one I never forgot. I actually wrote it down. 'Get busy living or get busy dying.'

Life is a choice, living and loving is also a choice. Everyday as a person, life will offer you many choices and you will make those choices whether good or bad. It is up to you to choose to follow your dreams and choose to be successful. You can also choose to stay focused and choose to make your life count. It is your choice. You either get busy living or get busy dying.

You can choose to remain on the sidelines of life, remain stuck in a life of mediocrity or simply refuse to let go of the past. It is your choice. You either get busy living or get busy dying.

You have only one life to live and many treasures buried deep within you.You either choose to live or die daily. 'Get busy living or get busy dying.'

You can also choose to break out of your despair and limitations or remain at one spot for the rest of your life.  'Get busy living or get busy dying.'

Life will always be a matter of choices. Choose to live rather than just exist.  'Get busy living or get busy dying.'

9jaflave FFT - What Step Are You On At The Moment In Your Life's Journey?

Today's Food for Thought  - What step are you on at the moment in your life's journey?

On your journey to achieving your dreams, what level are you at right now? Are you in a place of doubt with the 'I can't do it' syndrome or Is it the 'I want to' yet doing nothing syndrome?

Are you are still in the 'I will' phase which when not acted upon simply fades away. How about the 'I will try' syndrome which simply needs a little courage to act. I know many love the 'yes I did it' part, but always forget that you overcame a lot of those other syndromes to get where you are today.

What step are you on at the moment in your life's journey? Rate yourself and drive yourself from within. Cheers!!

Thoughts From A Young Zimbabwean Entrepreneur

Farai Munjoma is a 19-year-old entrepreneur from Zimbabwe and the face behind e-learning platform, Shasha Iseminar. The platform offers a free online library of courses and study notes, past exams and career guidance to A-level high school students in the country.

Munjoma decided to make it a free service to reduce the financial barrier to information that the high cost of good textbooks had created for many underprivileged students. He generates revenue from selling advertising space to companies and organisations looking to specifically target Zimbabwean students.

His advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is to be prepared to face obstacles, let their passion drive them, and their focus should be more on making an impact than making money.

His words :“When you have a good idea and that burning desire within to bring change, do not have anyone tell you that you can’t do it or let any situation stop you from achieving your dream. Because the first thing you will face will be challenges. As I was coming up with this project I had people try discouraging me. But the number one rule is not to think too much – just do it. As you go through your journey it will make more sense to other people.”.

9jaflave Soliloquy - Everything You Have Ever Wanted

"Everything you have ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear." - George Addair
What is that thing you have always wanted to achieve? What are your dreams and aspirations? What do you intend to do with your life? Take a look over your shoulder, everything you have ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear.

What has life thrown at you? How do you intend to pick up from where you stopped? What is that one thing holding you back?  Take a look over your shoulder, everything you have ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear.

What will your story be? Who will you impact with your uniqueness? How are your gifts and talents making the world a better place?  Take a look over your shoulder, everything you have ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear.

Marrianne Williamson said: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure." Just take a look over your shoulder and see that everything you have ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear. Kill that fear and take the first step. Cheers!!! Have a great week ahead and stay inspired @9jaflave.

Nigerian Artist Laolu Sebanjo Hired By Nike To Create Art Inspired Air Max Brand

American sportswear company Nike has hired Nigerian visual artist Laolu Sebanjo, to create art-inspired Air Max brand at the Air Max Con 2016. Reacting to the news of his selection by Nike, Laolu said: “I’m making my dreams a reality. This is my ayanmo (a Yoruba word for ‘destiny’). Create your destiny. Let me be your inspiration. Just do it!”

Laolu describes his style of art as “Afromysterics" a term he coined several years ago. It simply means “the mystery of the African thought pattern.” Although he has a degree in Law from the University of Ilorin, it has always been art first for him. Today, he uses his knowledge in law to ensure his copyrights and intellectual property are protected.

From Laolu's 1st exhibition in December 2009 at the Elephant House, Ikeja, Lagos where he did not sell a single work of art, the artist who also sings and plays the guitar has come a long way.  And from the 24th -26th of March, Laolu’s work will highlight his African roots as the world celebrates Nike’s popular Air Max brand.

9jaflave Soliloquy - When A Former Okada Rider Becomes The Best Graduating Student

Adeyemo Kazeem (L)
"Do not let your weak background make you put your back on the ground." These were the words of Adeyemo Kazeem, the overall best graduating student from Osun State University. The young man who was once an Okada rider graduated with a CPGA of 4.81 from the Department of Civil Engineering.

So what happens when a former okada (motorbike) rider becomes the overall best graduating student in his university. Dreams do come true and hard-work eventually pays off.

When a former okada (motorbike) rider becomes the best graduating student, determination and focus delivers the right results.

When a former okada (motorbike) rider becomes the best graduating student, life takes up new meaning as boundaries and limitations are broken.

When a former okada (motorbike) rider becomes the best graduating student, the past is history and the future is now.

He was consistently last in his class during his elementary school days.
He Managed to score the prerequisite 5 credit passes in his WAEC examinations.
He Rode "Okada" (commercial motorcycle), 2 years after secondary school to sustain himself and procure his JAMB form. He graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering with a CPGA of 4.81.

So when a former okada (motorbike) rider becomes the best graduating student, it only shows that you can look beyond your limitations and be all that you have ever wanted to be.

9jaflave Soliloquy - That Which Lies Within Us

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
The past is gone and the future is before us, between the two lies this moment. We are most times stuck in the past or busy daydreaming of a future with no action plan to get there.

What lies behind you are lessons to move you ahead, what lies before you are puzzles to solve, what lies within you is the power to make a change.

What lies behind you can become your limitation, what lies before you can be your motivation and that which lies within you is the propelling force to become.

There is something in every one of us, not just some of us. It is our uniqueness that adds value to the world. Think of that which lies within you, a word, a voice, a message, an invention, a product and change the world with who you are.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the beautiful mothers around the world. I sit here writing and reflecting on this priceless gift of motherhood. It is indeed a privilege and blessing to be called a mother. A deep feeling words sometimes cannot capture but precious moments never fail to reveal this depth. I am mother and I am so thankful to God for  making me one.

I am also blessed to have experienced the love and sacrifice of a mother from my own mother. Her love, her strength and her commitment to her family is truly inspiring. Today I celebrate my dear mother. God bless you for your love, care and selflessness. God will never forget your labour of love.

I celebrate my late mother-in-law whose values live on forever in the hearts of her children and grandchildren. I celebrate my sister-in-laws whose journey in motherhood continue to inspire grace and courage in my heart. I celebrate my dear sister who I know will make a beautiful mother, her giving heart never ceases to amaze me.

I celebrate all my friends who are mothers and those who will be mothers, your faith and investment in nurturing these little ones will yield great returns. I celebrate every woman trusting God for her own children, God will surely visit you.

I celebrate every woman raising children she did not birth physically, you are strong and God will never forget. I celebrate every woman investing in the lives of orphans, children with special needs and children living with disabilities, your seeds will bear great fruits.

I celebrate every woman in the world. You are special and indeed a blessing to the world. Always remember that you are moulding and shaping lives, you are nurturing greatness. Happy Mother's Day from 9jaflave. Keep inspiring the world with who you are.

9jaflave FFT - What Have You Failed At Lately?

Happy new month!!!! May this month of March be filled with ideas, solutions and opportunities for you. Steer your ship and keep moving.

Here is our Food For Thought for today. What have you failed at lately?
“Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.” Henry Ford
Have you failed lately at any task? Do you feel like a failure after trying so hard to get it right? Has life called you a failure? Or perhaps that feeling of hopelessness and doubt is wearing you out and you are just about to give up. Listen.......

Failure simply means, you can try again. Failure simply means shaking the dust off and trying a new approach. Failure simply means another opportunity to do things differently. Failure simply means that even when the world gives up on you, you choose to write a new story about your life.

So what have you failed at lately? Try again and choose to see it as an opportunity to do it more intelligently. Cheers and have a lovely Friday.
