9jaflave FFT - What Do You Want To Be Remembered For?

What do you want to be remembered for? A question worth pondering. My country's President, Muhammadu Buhari recently said that he wants to be remembered for fighting corruption to a standstill. A tough call I must say, especially with the depth of corruption in our nation, but I also believe it is achievable. 'A man's values will always reflect what he wants his legacy to be.'

So what do you want to be remembered for? We are not all called to great assignments, the little things we do daily can become our own legacies. In our families, in our marriages, in the workplace and as an entrepreneur, our lives can become great models for the next generation to build on.

What do you want to be remembered for? It is not about changing the whole world but about making a difference wherever you are. It is not about being in the limelight, but about silently impacting the world around you. ' A simple word of encouragement can impact a generation'. What do you want to be remembered for? Think about it.

9jaflave Soliloquy - A New Day To Start All Over Again

So here comes another week with fresh opportunities, ideas and its own challenges, the year also gradually coming to an end. You look back and still feel empty, no achievements, no accomplishments and nothing worth celebrating.

9jaflave Soliloquy - One Step Closer To Your Dreams

Indeed those dreams of yours still seem so far away, you wonder when you will get there, you look ahead and the future still looks so bleak. Keep Moving!!!! You are one step closer.

Challenges stare you in the face daily, the pressure is killing your soul, you are overwhelmed and want to give it all up. Keep Moving!!!! You are one step closer.

Achieving your dreams is not a day's job, neither is success an overnight miracle. You have to work, you have to believe, you have to persevere, you have to be consistent.

Every step taken, every time spent pondering, every work done to accomplish, every moment spent believing in that dream of yours, only takes you one step closer to it becoming a reality. Truly you may not be there yet, but you are one step closer than you were yesterday. Cheers!!!!

Thoughts From A Young South African Entrepreneur

Karidas Tshintsholo is the co-founder of Push Ismokol Clothing, a textile company that designs, manufactures and markets garments such as t-shirts, caps, trousers and sweaters.

The company was started in 2011 when he partnered with a friend who loved to design clothes. The 20 year old entrepreneur says, "Patience and perseverance is what makes most entrepreneurs.”
His advice to upcoming entrepreneurs is to have patience when it comes to growing their ventures and reaching their dreams.

His Words :“Even though in the short term things might look like they’re not coming together, as long as you have that long-term vision of where you want to go, you are on track to getting there. If you don’t know where you want to go, you can’t get there. So have a clear picture of where you want to be, and build towards getting there.”

Jamaican Marlon James Wins 2015 Man Booker Prize

Jamaican author Marlon James has won the 2015 Man Booker Prize for his novel, 'A Brief History of Seven Killings.' The 680 page epic was  inspired by the attempted assassination of Bob Marley in the 1970s. The judges described ‘A Brief History of Seven Killings’ as an extraordinary book, voting it the winner in a unanimous decision.

James was announced as the winner of the £50,000 prize in London on Tuesday, and is the first Jamaican author to win the Man Booker Prize. His first novel, John Crow’s Devil, was rejected 78 times by publishers, before it was eventually published in 2005.

"I'm not an easy writer to like and I remember the lengths I went to just to get my voice heard," the Jamaican author said after accepting the award at London's Guildhall."Almost exactly 10 years ago, I had given up my writing. I had written a novel and deleted it and destroyed it." Then he met author Kaylie Jones who, after hearing about his discarded manuscript, insisted on reading it. After much searching, he unearthed a version of the novel "on an old laptop in an Outlook Express outbox" and Jones had it published.

"I am eternally grateful to her," James said. I sort of gave up on writing and the idea that people wanted to hear these stories. It is kind of affirming, especially because this is the riskiest novel I've ever written and not just in terms of subject matter but in terms of form. The 44-year-old author was presented with his prize by the Duchess of Cornwall.

9jaflave Soliloquy - Quit Giving Excuses, Pursue Your Dreams

Procrastination they say is the greatest thief of time, I will, I will and yet you do nothing. Time waits for no one and it quickly slips away. Time remains one of your most valuable resources here on earth, so choose to use it wisely.

Quit making excuses for your weaknesses, quit giving many reasons why you can't make it happen and refuse to be intimidated other people's success. Your dreams and aspirations will remain just dreams until acted upon.

The time is now and the moment is now. You lose a lot of time while you sit making excuses. If then you truly believe in your dreams, go ahead and pursue those dreams. Cheers!!! Stay inspired @9jaflave

9jaflave Soliloquy - Find Courage and Pursue Your Dreams

One of my favourite quotes from Nelson Mandela is "I learned that courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."

To triumph over your fears is the beginning of  believing in yourself.  To believe in yourself is the beginning of  unveiling the masterpiece that you are. To dream is the beginning of unlocking the treasures within you. To be courageous is the beginning of breaking barriers and doing that which seemed impossible.

You and I have dreams. You and I have great visions. You and I have great potentials locked up within us. But we need courage to see them become a reality. We all have dreams and truly all our dreams can come to pass, If and only if we are willing to be courageous enough to pursue them.

You will feel afraid many times, but you must learn to conquer those fears and make things happen. Your dreams can come to pass, your vision can see the light of day, but if and only if you are willing to find the courage to go for it. Stay inspired @9jaflave

Comedienne Lepacious Bose On Her Inspiring Weight Loss Journey

Nigerian female comedienne, Lepacious Bose recently shared a before/recent picture of herself revealing her incredible weight loss. Some people on seeing how much weight she lost quickly said she had surgery. But she has revealed that it was a journey she began 2 years ago after her teenage nephew, Simi sounded a wake-up call. Her will, courage, patience and determination is eventually paying off.

Her words: These days I just love taking pictures, it’s amazing how far I have come from acting like I love the camera, and actually loving it. The journey of a thousand miles starts with one step, make a choice, start today, a little walk, a little exercise, a conscious healthier eating habit….it all comes together slowly but surely, you too can loose that weight, let’s enjoy this journey together. Almost 2yrs on this journey and I can’t stop smiling. #lovinglife#.

About 3 years ago, while on holiday in Namibia with my brother's family, I was taking an afternoon nap, Simi, my nephew came in and touched me gently, almost like a doctor would do. He touched my forehead and asked softly, aunty Bos (not aunty Bose lol) are you OK? I said yes, he said are you sure and I gave him the what do you mean look, still sleepy. Then he said what jumped into my brain like a bomb explosion. He said,  "You were breathing funny in your sleep, I got scared, thought you heart was going to stop, I got scared, that is why I came to check if you are alright."

In a very humble voice I told him I was fine, then I sat up, thought about it, his dad (my brother) had always hated me being big, we fought constantly about it, that I was sure he hated me, now I know better, lol. He loved me too much to watch me let myself go like I was doing, but I didn’t get it.

You Can Be Somebody Great - Korede Bello

One of Nigeria's young and talented musicians, Korede Bello, says his latest song, 'Somebody Great', featuring Asa, is  a song he wrote, to make people visualise success in their minds and then work hard to achieve it. “You can be somebody great from nobody to somebody, you can be anything you want to be: have love for God, love for people, one love."

The song titled 'Somebody Great' was written to inspire greatness in others he says, " Before you can be somebody great, you need to first see it in your mind and you need to prophesy it to yourself, you need to say it to yourself.”

The 19-year-old also believes that musicians have the power to turn lives around for the better. “I guess those are one of the privileges of being a musician because you can put things out there in a melodic form that can change people’s lives forever,” he said.

9jaflave Soliloquy - When Oprah Winfrey Meets Mother Theresa

What happens when a media mogul cum Philanthropist meets a nun giving hope to the poorest of the poor in faraway India?

What happens when a woman who has interviewed some of the world's  most powerful and influential people, meets a simple nun whose daily interaction is with the poor, hopeless and broken?

What happens when two women choose to serve the world with their uniqueness and bring light and life to many broken lives?

What happens when Oprah Winfrey meets Mother Theresa? You get a clear mix of the heartbeat and passion of motherhood.

When Oprah meets Mother Theresa, hope comes alive and dreams are reborn. One woman gave herself and served the poor till her death, the other woman is still giving herself and sharing her wealth with the world.

Mother Theresa said: " If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one", and Oprah says,
"What material success does is provide you with the ability to concentrate on other things that really matter. And that is being able to make a difference, not only in your own life, but in other people's lives."

When Oprah meets Mother Theresa, motherhood breaks boundaries, it goes beyond being a mother to your biological children, it becomes mothering from the heart and serving the world with who you truly are.

When Oprah meets Mother Theresa you get a clear mix of passion and love in abundance to shape, lift, nurture and build other lives.

So when you think of Oprah Winfrey and Mother Theresa, think of motherhood beyond boundaries, think of women who chose to impact the lives of children in search of love and hope, think of being a mother who will influence and shape the lives of the next generation positively, leaving footprints in the hearts of many forever.

Be Revolutionary And Dream Big - South African Female Entrepreneur

Maite Makgoba is the South African Female entrepreneur behind Momppy Mpoppy, a princess doll made and suited for young African girls. She received the idea while shopping for a doll for her niece. Makgoba believes this is Africa's moment and that opportunities abound to grow revolutionary businesses. Read her thoughts below:

“I mean, right now we are sitting in a position where the continent is ours. It is up to us to shape it, to direct where we want it to go. So wherever the direction, it has to be for the better of this continent.”

She attributes some of her company’s success to dreaming “crazy big” and advises other entrepreneurs to do the same. At the beginning of this year I said to my team that we are going to end up in Forbes Magazine. And we did it. “You have to think really big because that is how you challenge yourself. The bigger the dream, the more drive you put behind it.”

9jaflave FFT - Live Your Life To Express Not Impress

Life is more than the accolades, it is more about living with purpose and living for a cause. It is more than living to impress others, it is more about living out our full potentials and impacting the world with who we are.

What will the world remember you for? Will the world remember that you were here? Think about it.
