9jaFlave Soliloquy - What Are You Thankful For?

Wow!!! Some few hours from now, 2015 will bid us goodbye as we welcome a brand new year. It seems just like yesterday when we all rejoiced at entering the year 2015, and now we are about to say goodbye.

What has the year 2015 been like for you? Did you extract all of what it had in stock for you? Did you enjoy its beauty and soulfulness? Did the year see you digging out treasures from its rich and diverse reserves? Did you create memories to last you a lifetime? Did you cry for the pain, hurts and disappointments that came your way? Did you find laughter in the midst of life's valleys? Did you show gratitude at all times?

I laughed. I cared. I hoped. I cried sometimes. I sacrificed. I rejoiced. I prayed. I sang.I loved. I believed and most of all I am thankful. Thankful for the gift of life, thankful for the life I am living, thankful for family, thankful for the air I breathe, thankful for every new day, thankful for my husband, thankful for my children, thankful for my parents, thankful for my siblings, thankful for my in-laws, thankful for the gift motherhood, thankful for God's love and mercy, thankful for a sound mind, thankful for inspiring books, thankful for food every single day, thankful for my Bible, thankful for good health, thankful for clothes on my back, thankful for a few good friends, thankful that I made it this far and so much more than I can even remember. My heart is full of thanks.

What are you thankful for? The year may not have been exactly how you planned it to be, I still encourage you to look for the little things and show gratitude. Thanksgiving is the power behind multiplication. When you begin to show gratitude, life takes on a whole new meaning and you begin living rather than just existing. SO WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR? SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH ME ON THIS ONE. Cheers!!!!!!

Who Inspires You - Mark Zuckerberg And Wife Priscillia

Who Inspires You? A person, a Place, a book, an event or maybe your own life and achievements are a great source of inspiration to you. Fell free to share with us. I am still sharing with you who inspires me. Next on my list is Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his lovely wife, Priscillia Chan.

It is one thing to be entrusted with wealth, and another thing when you are able to use that wealth as a tool to impact lives positively and make the world a better place. I am always quite humbled each time I see a post or write up about Facebook founder and his wife Priscillia giving to another cause. They are quite an inspiring couple and truly reflect how powerful it is when a husband and wife are united in vision, purpose and commitment.

While responding to a facebook user after giving a $25 million grant to help fight Ebola last year, Zuckerberg said, "I think we have a responsibility to help out wherever we see a need."
To celebrate the birth of their daughter Max,  the couple announced that they were giving 99% of their Facebook shares, valued at about $45 billion through a new organization called the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. In a letter written to their daughter Max, the couple said,

"As you begin the next generation of the Chan Zuckerberg family, we also begin the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to join people across the world to advance human potential and promote equality for all children in the next generation. Our initial areas of focus will be personalized learning, curing disease, connecting people and building strong communities".

This couple inspires me like they inspire many around the world with their giving. Their commitment to solving problems, providing solutions , caring about others and sharing their wealth is truly inspiring. And just like you say Mark, 'seeds planted now will grow', indeed these many seeds both of you are planting now will surely grow in the lives and hearts of many generations to come.

Ghanaian Female Entrepreneur Mabel Suglo - Stop Talking And Start Doing

Meet Mabel Suglo, the young Ghanaian female entrepreneur behind EcoShoes. Her company employs people with disabilities to manufacture shoes and accessories from discarded tyres and recycled materials.

The 21 year old was named the 2015 second runner up of the Anzisha Prize, Africa’s premier award for young entrepreneurs. She also received US$12,500 cash prize. Read more about her here.

The young entrepreneur says it's not just being a big talker that counts, but being a doer. Her advice to other young entrepreneurs is to start saving as soon as possible, be patient and stay focused on their goal especially during the tough times.

“Be determined because the road to success is not smooth, it is very rough. And don’t be just a big-talker. I think one problem many of us young Africans have is we talk too much and we don’t have a lot of doers. Give it a proper try and if you fail, just pick yourself up, shake the dust off and continue to try again,” she says.

“One thing I know about most successful people is they never really got it right at the first go. They had to try over and over and over again.”

Who Inspires You - Mothers Around The World

Who Inspires You? A person, a Place, a book, an event or maybe your own life and achievements are a great source of inspiration to you. Fell free to share with us. I am still sharing with you who inspires me. Next on my list are mothers around the world.

To every woman out there who has been privileged to carry and bring forth life, you are a great inspiration. To every woman who has been privileged to nurture and raise a child to adulthood, you are a great inspiration. And to every woman out there who has adopted children, invested in the lives of less privileged children and fought for the cause of children. You are truly a great inspiration.

Mothers inspire me generally. I am blessed to be a mother too, but watching those who are ahead of me and how much they invest daily, sowing good seeds in the lives of their children gives me courage in my own journey.

From the mother hawking on the streets with her baby strapped to her back, to the mother with a demanding job balancing out her roles effectively, to the mummy entrepreneur who is raising her children and still pursuing her dreams and the full time mother whose labour of love is unending, your commitment and strength is inspiring.

Dear Mother, the little things you do everyday are so full of love and sacrifice. The meals, laundry, listening, holding, cuddling, reading, caring and praying. etc. You are watering lives and truly nurturing greatness. Wherever you are in the world, I want you to know that you inspire me and millions of others. The things you do daily may go unnoticed, but be encouraged that the good seeds you are planting  will surely reap great returns. You are a mother and you are such a great inspiration.

Who Inspires YOU - Malala Yousafzai

Who Inspires You? A person, a Place, a book, an event or maybe your own life and achievements are a great source of inspiration to you. Fell free to share with us. I am still sharing with you who inspires me. Next on my list is Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai. She Inspires me.

Malala Yousafzai is the Pakistani teenager who was shot by the Taliban for her vocal stance on the importance of educating the girl child. She not only survived but has kept her commitment to campaigning for the rights of girls to receive an education and also went on to win a Nobel peace prize. She is the youngest Nobel Prize winner.

Her words while receiving her Nobel prize,  "I had two options," she said of her life after being shot in the head by the Taliban more than two years ago. "One was to remain silent and wait to be killed. And the second was to speak up and then be killed. I chose the second one. I decided to speak up." Read full speech here.

The person Malala inspires me, her words also inspire me. Her courage and vision as a young person is quite inspiring. You look at her and know that hope is not lost for many young people out there without a sense of purpose.

She is young, focused and a great source of inspiration. Something she said during her interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour in October, 2013 stuck with me, She said ,“They can only shoot a body, but they cannot shoot my dreams.” What a powerful statement from such a young girl. She inspires me and will continue to inspire many around the world.

Who Inspires YOU - DR Myles Monroe

Who Inspires You? A person, a Place, a book, an event or maybe your own life and achievements are a great source of inspiration to you. Fell free to share with us. I said previously I will be sharing with you who inspires me. So today I will be starting with Dr Myles Monroe. He Inspires me.

Dr Myles Monroe who passed away last year is a renowned speaker, teacher, author and educator. I find a lot of inspiration from his books. My number one amongst his books would be - The Principles and Power of Vision. He is such a wonderful writer whom you tend to follow deeply as you read, and one whose words you are likely never to easily forget. His teachings give you the same feeling, I can never get bored or tired listening to him teach. He always has something to say that sticks with you.

Even though he is no longer physically here with us, his words will continue to impact millions and generations unborn. He has been a great source of inspiration to me through his books and will definitely continue to inspire me.  I am sharing some of those inspiring words below:

"The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but living without a purpose"
" If you want to be a success, do not keep company with those who aren't going anywhere in life"
" You should live so effectively that there won't be any need for a tombstone to mark your grave because your life will be in the hearts and memories of those who could never forget you or what you did"

Who Inspires You - Nero Ogheneovo CEO Tshirt Factory Nigeria

A few days ago, I asked a question on the blog, Who Inspires YOU? Today I am starting out with - Who Inspires YOU? 9jaflave FFT - Is It The Mountain Ahead Or The Pebble In Your Shoe?

Today's Food for thought(FFT) - Is it the mountain ahead that scares you silly or the pebble in your shoe? Think about it.

In life there will be many mountains in the form of pressure, challenges, difficulties and unbelief, you must refuse to let the pebbles of hopelessness, weariness, depression and faithlessness take over the shoes on your feet. The mountains you see must never direct the course of your life.

What is that pebble in your shoe? Is it Procrastination or the fear of failure? Share with us and inspire us with your action plan on how to climb those mountains. Cheers!!!!!

9jaflave Soliloquy - Believe In The Beauty Of Your Dreams

This happens to be one of my favourite quotes and I saw it first as a framed picture many years ago. It is an interesting quote and gives you some sense of encouragement in respect to dreams. It still inspires me till date.

Everyone of us has dreams, we believe that our tomorrow will be filled with great things. The dreams in our hearts gives us hope for the future and we live each day with great expectations. Keep believing because those dreams can become a reality.

If you can only believe in the beauty of your dreams, then the future is yours. If you can find that little spark of hope in those things you hold dear to your heart, then the future is yours. If you can do it over and over again until you get it right, then the future is yours.

If you choose to believe in your dreams even when nobody else does, then the future is yours. If you can find that courage and go out to pursue those dreams, then the future is yours. When life says you do not have what it takes, then look at your self in the mirror and tell life that the future is yours.
Your future begins now and it can be beautiful if you can simply believe in the beauty of your dreams. Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay inspired @9jaflave

A Kenyan Female Entrepreneur's Inspiring Journey Into Business

Meet Mary Cherop Maritim, Kenyan female Entrepreneur and founder of Cherebut Foods, a company that supplies frozen grains and legumes. Her business has its own factory, employs 11 people and serves 7 grocery chains in Kenya. She is also one of the 4 finalists for AFIF’s Entrepreneurship Award 2015. Read below how this working mother quickly worked on an idea she received which today has become a full fledged business. Go here for full article.

Maritim came up with her product idea in 2007, while working as a secretary for a government official. She often had to work late and this meant having to prepare supper for her family ahead of time. But one day she found herself working later than expected and with no idea what to feed her family.

“I got home and my husband and children were waiting. So I rushed to the freezer and found some beans that I had cooked, frozen, and forgotten about it. I cooked some rice really fast, made a sauce and threw in the beans – and within minutes we were sitting eating,” recalled Maritim.

“I wondered if other women knew this trick because it is really a great idea to have frozen beans around for times like this. But then I thought some might even be too busy to cook the beans in the first place and to then freeze them. And maybe this was a good business idea.”

December Is Finally Here - Happy New Month

Welcome to the awesome month of December!!!! Christmas is around the corner and it is the last month in the year 2015. What are you thankful for? What are your worries and fears? What do you hope to still achieve before 2015 bids us goodbye?

We still have 30 days to go, 30 days to still start that project, 30 days to start dreaming again, 30 days to make those changes in your life, 30 days to love again, 30 days to forgive and move on,30 days to start living again and 30 days to still make that impact.

Choose to make every minute and second count in these remaining days of the year. Also know that miracles do happen and giving up now is not an option for you. You may have started the year slowly, it may look like you accomplished nothing, things probably didn't work out the way you planned it, look for that little light in the tunnel and choose to finish the year strong. 9jaflave Soliloquy - Take a Chance And Make A Choice For Change

Change never comes to our lives by wishing, change never happens until we decide to make it happen, change may never come until we find the courage to do things differently.

Life is a choice and everyday unveils opportunities and chances to make our lives better. If life then is a choice, what are you doing to create a brighter future for yourself? Change will not happen suddenly, it will take someone (you) to make that change happen.

Choices precedes change and that change will reveal a better you. You can be all that you want to be. You can achieve the dreams and visions in your heart, if and only if you are willing to make wise choices.

What do you really want out of life? Take a chance and make that choice, until you do, life remains static and your life will never change. Cheers!!!! Have a great week ahead

A Young Man's Inspiring Journey From Somali To Harvard

The story of 20 year old Abdisamad Muhiyadin Adan should inspire every young person out there. His story shows that focus, determination and rising above one's limitations will eventually pay off.
Adan could neither speak or write English 5 years ago but today he is off to study at the prestigious Harvard University on a full scholarship.

Adan’s parents were divorced before he was born and he was raised by his grandmother in a poor neighbourhood in Somaliland, without access to clean water or electricity. Despite being born in an environment where education was not considered anything to strive for, Adan fought tirelessly to stand out and bring about change in his family and community.

He excelled as he studied by candlelight at night and performed excellently in his local primary school. He also finished 2nd in the country in the national eighth grade exams. He graduated from the Abaarso School of Science and Technology, Somali. Today his efforts have paid off  and he said that he only utilized the opportunities that came his way.

Thoughts From Nigerian Female Entrepreneur Saudat Salami

Saudat Salami is the CEO and Founder of Easyshop Easycook Limited, a domestic outsource company that specializes in shopping services. Her business simply takes off the stress of shopping from those who are unable to do it themselves because of time constraints and working professionals.
Mrs Salami has been on this entrepreneurial journey for 10 years and is still waxing strong. She shared some insightful thoughts on her journey at WhootAfricarevealing that 3 qualities are needed to sustain any business, Believing in yourself, Believing In God and Believing in your purpose. Read excerpts below:

What inspires and drives you as a person, and today as an inspiration in the business world?
I am a dreamer. As far as I can remember this has been my guiding principle “To accomplish great things, we must not only act but also dream, not only plan but also believe” Anatole France. Everything inspires me actually; if you know any of my friends they will tell you I always see a positive side to almost everything.

My driving force is about supporting people and being part of the solution. I believe there is always a solution if we look at things from various angles. When I get distracted, tired, broke and I think about my vision I get back up and keep going. The journey can be altered but never the destination.

Can you mention three qualities you think are important for longevity and sustainability of any business?
Believe in yourself, Believe in a higher power (God), Believe in your purpose.

British Singer Adele On Why Her Focus Is On Music

Grammy Award Winning British Singer, Adele recently shared her thoughts on why her focus is on music alone. Her new song 'Hello' released on Oct 23rd was bought and downloaded by more than 1 million people in the United States alone.

The singer who took a 4 year break from music wants to be known for one thing only, music. This explains why she has turned down several endorsements and deals. She truly does gives some insight into the power of focus. Focus takes out distractions and keeps you grounded.

Her words: “If I wanted to just be famous, like be a celebrity, then I wouldn't do music, because everything else I've been offered would probably make me more famous than I am just with my music. Commercials, being the face of brands, nail varnishes, shoes, bags, fashion lines, beauty ranges, hair products, being in movies, being the face of a car, designing watches, food ranges, buildings, airlines, book deals. I've been offered everything. And I don’t want to water myself down. I want to do one thing. I want to make something. I don’t want to be the face of anything."

“Everyone thinks I just disappeared, and I didn't,” she said. I just went back to real life, because I had to write an album about real life, because otherwise how can you be relatable? Her latest album '25' is set for release worldwide on November 20.

9jaflave Soliloquy - You Are Not A Tree

You can choose to remain on the same spot in your life or move over and create something beautiful out of it. You are not a tree.

You can choose to keep sulking about how badly life has treated you or forget the past and see a better and brighter future. You are not a tree.

You can choose to blame everyone but you for your failures or simply take responsibility and learn from your mistakes. You are not a tree.

You can keep dreaming and talking, yet do nothing to achieve those dreams. Procrastination remains the greatest thief of time. Start doing and quit talking. You are not a tree.

You can start right now to walk out of that spot of despair, mediocrity and unbelief. You are not a tree. Only a tree remains on one spot, it either stays or is cut down. So if you don't like where you are in your life right now, move, you are not a tree. Cheers!!!!

The Inspiring 'Nigerian Story' Of Cool Fm Presenter Mannie

This particular post is a blast from the past, I shared it about 2 years ago but I've decided to share it again, believing it will inspire someone. It is the inspiring Nigerian story of Cool FM presenter, Mannie. It's all about his journey to getting his personal breakthrough.

Cool FM Presenter, Mannie Speaks:
Several years ago, I was through with school and stayed in Abuja with my sister. I decided not to go for the mandatory NYSC programme. My sister would have none of that and advised me against such rashness. I insisted I would not serve, but rather go to Lagos; perhaps I would find something worthwhile to do there.

Eventually, she gave in to my vague plan and offered me N3000- all she could spare. That was how I started on a seemingly hopeless journey propelled by my dreams, hopes and aspirations. I had no idea of what lay ahead. All I had was N3000 and a few personal effects which included a mini-keyboard.

I made my journey and when I got to Lagos a friend kindly offered to accommodate me for few weeks. So there I was at a friend’s place, jobless and indoors when others had gone to work. I was always on my keyboard, creating and playing tunes for my pleasure and entertainment. I had produced and stored some tunes on my keyboard while in Abuja just for the fun of it.

On a fateful day the landlord of the house where I lived came to our apartment. Incidentally the man was a big shot in the advertising field. Every day he heard melodious tunes coming from our apartment and he came to see the face behind those tunes. He asked me what I wanted to do with the tunes. I told him that they were jingles for commercials. And that is where the story of my life changed. The landlord got me my first break in which one of my tunes was used as an advert jingle. From then on, it was jingle after jingle for some of the top brands in the country. MTN was one of such brands.

Remembering Dr Myles Monroe

How time really does fly? It is exactly a year ago, I got that early morning call from my brother that Myles Monroe and his lovely wife, Ruth had died in a plane crash alongside others on his way to minister at a program. How and Why were the first questions in my head, but I became grateful knowing that he lived a purposeful life, and that he was able to pen down so many books that will influence many generations to come.

Dr Myles Monroe is a great writer whose books come alive before you when reading. His books are always so difficult to drop when reading, I just want to go on and on. I am so grateful for his life and how he has inspired many and will continue to inspire millions through his teachings and books.

I pray that his children will continue to be strengthened and may his legacy continue to live on. As we remember him today, think over his teachings, ponder his writings, get inspiration from many of his quotes and choose to live your own life with purpose. I leave you with his words below.....

“You must decide if you are going to rob the world or bless it with the rich, valuable, potent, untapped resources locked away within you”

"The value of life is not in its duration, but in its donation. You are not important because of how long you live, you are important because of how effective you live."
“When purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable”

“One of the greatest tragedies in life is to watch potential die untapped.”

9jaflave FFT - Yes Your Voice Matters

Do you really believe that you were born to make an impact in your generation? Do you believe that your life was given to you for a purpose? Do you know that you have a great story, so many life lessons to share from your challenges and experiences?

Do you know that your dreams count? Those dreams of yours have the power to influence a generation after you, if and only if you choose to believe in them and pursue them. Do you know that your voice matters? Your words, your actions and who you are  is what will create lasting legacies long after you are gone.

Many are in search of great stories to inspire them. The world will always remember those who leave footprints in the sands of time. Generations will always draw from the wisdom of those who lived life with purpose. Yes your voice matters. What you do and who you are may seem so insignificant right now, just remember that your story is important and that your voice matters. Cheers!!!!

Thoughts From South African Entrepreneur Lere Mgayiya

Lere Mgayiya is the entrepreneur behind Lere’s Shoe Shine Experience, a service that can be found in South Africa’s 3 largest airports. Mgayiya started shining shoes out of desperation, using lessons learnt from other business failures.

In his words: “I combined them all; resolving to make this business better and ensure it survives. But putting all those experiences together ended in creating a business I didn't expect could be this big,it was the lessons I had learnt before that helped me make it into what it is today.”

His advice to upcoming entrepreneurs is to be prepared to commit themselves completely to their business, even if it means facing greater risks. “If you are not invested in that business it changes the chances of success.” He however noted that 'passion and clever thinking are more important to entrepreneurs than just money'.

“Businesses are made from ideas and these come from your head and heart, it is the driving force which is generated from the love and passion for those ideas that makes it successful – it is not the money,” he emphasised. No matter how poor you are, no matter what family you come from, or class in life you come from, those 2 things you will always have. It is your brain that makes you successful and your heart that drives you.”

SAD!!! Pregnant Mother And Baby Dies Looking For Doctors

I must say reading this in the papers yesterday made me sad. It was a needless death and the government has to do more concerning maternal healthcare in the country. The lives of pregnant women and their babies must be given top priority. Also health workers have to change their attitude and give premium value to human life. Read as published by Punch below:

When Omowumi Shonuga tapped her husband that her water had broken at 5 am on Thursday morning, being a sign of labour pain, anxiety took hold of him. Although he, Ayobanji Shonuga, was remotely happy that his second child was about to be born, he was as nervous as many men would be in that situation.

As the wife’s labour pains increased, the 33-year-old man quickly packed his baby’s things and rushed her to the Rauf Aregbesola Health Centre in Egbeda. Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos. His joy and hope began to diminish when he got to the health centre and found out that the hospital gates were locked.

Shonuga said, “We got to the hospital around 5 am to meet the hospitals locked. I horned and horned, nobody came out. After a while a woman came out and said there was no doctor to attend to me, that I should take her to the Igando General Hospital. I said it was impossible for a doctor not to be on duty in a hospital as big as this. She ignored any other enquiry I was trying to make. As I got back to my car, I saw that my wife had delivered the baby and that she was in a pool of blood and she was also bleeding. It was when I started shouting, ‘Blood! Blood! Baby’ that two nurses rushed out from the hospital.”

This Piece By Pastor Anita Will Inspire You

So I stumbled across this write up by Pastor Anita and I must say, I was inspired. This line got me - "When disappointments happen, we can decide to isolate ourselves and close all doors, leaving little hope for the rebuilding of our broken dreams.

The thought of starting again may seem devastating and absolutely painful. When something bad happens, realise that it is not the end; sometimes it can be the best thing that ever happened to you". Read the full article here.

Life is a choice and I choose to add colour to the pages of my own life. I choose to paint beautiful pictures of my future. I choose to stay bright and colourful. I choose to make other lives colourful too.

9jaflave FFT - What Do You Want To Be Remembered For?

What do you want to be remembered for? A question worth pondering. My country's President, Muhammadu Buhari recently said that he wants to be remembered for fighting corruption to a standstill. A tough call I must say, especially with the depth of corruption in our nation, but I also believe it is achievable. 'A man's values will always reflect what he wants his legacy to be.'

So what do you want to be remembered for? We are not all called to great assignments, the little things we do daily can become our own legacies. In our families, in our marriages, in the workplace and as an entrepreneur, our lives can become great models for the next generation to build on.

What do you want to be remembered for? It is not about changing the whole world but about making a difference wherever you are. It is not about being in the limelight, but about silently impacting the world around you. ' A simple word of encouragement can impact a generation'. What do you want to be remembered for? Think about it.

9jaflave Soliloquy - A New Day To Start All Over Again

So here comes another week with fresh opportunities, ideas and its own challenges, the year also gradually coming to an end. You look back and still feel empty, no achievements, no accomplishments and nothing worth celebrating.

You may have started and it did not work out, you may have given your best shot and still nothing to show for it. You still seem to be at a crossroad in your life, with no clue of how and where to start from. It's a new day and new opportunities abound and new ideas are born.

'What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us isn't as important as what lies within us.' Treasures abound in us, it only takes believing in yourself and choosing to never give up. Life will beat you hard, challenges will test your limits, your dreams will look like they can't be realized. It's a new day and new doors are open.

You are alive and have your sanity intact. Today presents you with another opportunity to start again. A new day is here to try again, to create again, to rise again and to believe again.

Just take a deep breath and start all over again. It's a new day and it definitely has pleasant things for you. Do have a great week ahead and stay inspired@9jaflave. Cheers!!!!!!

9jaflave Soliloquy - One Step Closer To Your Dreams

Indeed those dreams of yours still seem so far away, you wonder when you will get there, you look ahead and the future still looks so bleak. Keep Moving!!!! You are one step closer.

Challenges stare you in the face daily, the pressure is killing your soul, you are overwhelmed and want to give it all up. Keep Moving!!!! You are one step closer.

Achieving your dreams is not a day's job, neither is success an overnight miracle. You have to work, you have to believe, you have to persevere, you have to be consistent.

Every step taken, every time spent pondering, every work done to accomplish, every moment spent believing in that dream of yours, only takes you one step closer to it becoming a reality. Truly you may not be there yet, but you are one step closer than you were yesterday. Cheers!!!!

Thoughts From A Young South African Entrepreneur

Karidas Tshintsholo is the co-founder of Push Ismokol Clothing, a textile company that designs, manufactures and markets garments such as t-shirts, caps, trousers and sweaters.

The company was started in 2011 when he partnered with a friend who loved to design clothes. The 20 year old entrepreneur says, "Patience and perseverance is what makes most entrepreneurs.”
His advice to upcoming entrepreneurs is to have patience when it comes to growing their ventures and reaching their dreams.

His Words :“Even though in the short term things might look like they’re not coming together, as long as you have that long-term vision of where you want to go, you are on track to getting there. If you don’t know where you want to go, you can’t get there. So have a clear picture of where you want to be, and build towards getting there.”

9jaflave Soliloquy - Try Again And Again Till It Works

Chasing your dreams, pursuing your vision and fulfilling purpose is a journey we begin with great anticipation and expectation. We are fired up and full of faith and desire quick results. But what happens when the challenges of life cross your path.

There are challenges that will push you beyond your limits, challenges that would question why you started on this journey. You will fall many times, you will tested severally. Your integrity will be questioned, your faith in your vision will be tried. You may feel overwhelmed at some point, you may just want to give it all up. Stop for a moment.......

Failing only means you are learning new ways to make it right. Giving up now is no option. Your dream is worth rising up from that fall over and over again, till you get it right. If you fail, try again and again till it works. Are you willing right now to try again? Have a blessed week ahead and stay inspired @9jaflave.

Jamaican Marlon James Wins 2015 Man Booker Prize

Jamaican author Marlon James has won the 2015 Man Booker Prize for his novel, 'A Brief History of Seven Killings.' The 680 page epic was  inspired by the attempted assassination of Bob Marley in the 1970s. The judges described ‘A Brief History of Seven Killings’ as an extraordinary book, voting it the winner in a unanimous decision.

James was announced as the winner of the £50,000 prize in London on Tuesday, and is the first Jamaican author to win the Man Booker Prize. His first novel, John Crow’s Devil, was rejected 78 times by publishers, before it was eventually published in 2005.

"I'm not an easy writer to like and I remember the lengths I went to just to get my voice heard," the Jamaican author said after accepting the award at London's Guildhall."Almost exactly 10 years ago, I had given up my writing. I had written a novel and deleted it and destroyed it." Then he met author Kaylie Jones who, after hearing about his discarded manuscript, insisted on reading it. After much searching, he unearthed a version of the novel "on an old laptop in an Outlook Express outbox" and Jones had it published.

"I am eternally grateful to her," James said. I sort of gave up on writing and the idea that people wanted to hear these stories. It is kind of affirming, especially because this is the riskiest novel I've ever written and not just in terms of subject matter but in terms of form. The 44-year-old author was presented with his prize by the Duchess of Cornwall.

9jaflave Soliloquy - Quit Giving Excuses, Pursue Your Dreams

Procrastination they say is the greatest thief of time, I will, I will and yet you do nothing. Time waits for no one and it quickly slips away. Time remains one of your most valuable resources here on earth, so choose to use it wisely.

Quit making excuses for your weaknesses, quit giving many reasons why you can't make it happen and refuse to be intimidated other people's success. Your dreams and aspirations will remain just dreams until acted upon.

The time is now and the moment is now. You lose a lot of time while you sit making excuses. If then you truly believe in your dreams, go ahead and pursue those dreams. Cheers!!! Stay inspired @9jaflave

9jaflave Soliloquy - Find Courage and Pursue Your Dreams

One of my favourite quotes from Nelson Mandela is "I learned that courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."

To triumph over your fears is the beginning of  believing in yourself.  To believe in yourself is the beginning of  unveiling the masterpiece that you are. To dream is the beginning of unlocking the treasures within you. To be courageous is the beginning of breaking barriers and doing that which seemed impossible.

You and I have dreams. You and I have great visions. You and I have great potentials locked up within us. But we need courage to see them become a reality. We all have dreams and truly all our dreams can come to pass, If and only if we are willing to be courageous enough to pursue them.

You will feel afraid many times, but you must learn to conquer those fears and make things happen. Your dreams can come to pass, your vision can see the light of day, but if and only if you are willing to find the courage to go for it. Stay inspired @9jaflave

Comedienne Lepacious Bose On Her Inspiring Weight Loss Journey

Nigerian female comedienne, Lepacious Bose recently shared a before/recent picture of herself revealing her incredible weight loss. Some people on seeing how much weight she lost quickly said she had surgery. But she has revealed that it was a journey she began 2 years ago after her teenage nephew, Simi sounded a wake-up call. Her will, courage, patience and determination is eventually paying off.

Her words: These days I just love taking pictures, it’s amazing how far I have come from acting like I love the camera, and actually loving it. The journey of a thousand miles starts with one step, make a choice, start today, a little walk, a little exercise, a conscious healthier eating habit….it all comes together slowly but surely, you too can loose that weight, let’s enjoy this journey together. Almost 2yrs on this journey and I can’t stop smiling. #lovinglife#.

About 3 years ago, while on holiday in Namibia with my brother's family, I was taking an afternoon nap, Simi, my nephew came in and touched me gently, almost like a doctor would do. He touched my forehead and asked softly, aunty Bos (not aunty Bose lol) are you OK? I said yes, he said are you sure and I gave him the what do you mean look, still sleepy. Then he said what jumped into my brain like a bomb explosion. He said,  "You were breathing funny in your sleep, I got scared, thought you heart was going to stop, I got scared, that is why I came to check if you are alright."

In a very humble voice I told him I was fine, then I sat up, thought about it, his dad (my brother) had always hated me being big, we fought constantly about it, that I was sure he hated me, now I know better, lol. He loved me too much to watch me let myself go like I was doing, but I didn’t get it.

You Can Be Somebody Great - Korede Bello

One of Nigeria's young and talented musicians, Korede Bello, says his latest song, 'Somebody Great', featuring Asa, is  a song he wrote, to make people visualise success in their minds and then work hard to achieve it. “You can be somebody great from nobody to somebody, you can be anything you want to be: have love for God, love for people, one love."

The song titled 'Somebody Great' was written to inspire greatness in others he says, " Before you can be somebody great, you need to first see it in your mind and you need to prophesy it to yourself, you need to say it to yourself.”

The 19-year-old also believes that musicians have the power to turn lives around for the better. “I guess those are one of the privileges of being a musician because you can put things out there in a melodic form that can change people’s lives forever,” he said.

What are you willing to do today, that when you eventually look back in the future, you will be glad you did it. There are decisions and choices to be made, but the will and courage to do is what sets you apart.

What steps are you willing to take? What are those things that have to give way? What path will you choose to walk? There are commitments to be made, but the passion and tenacity is what will produce results.

Look ahead and think, what will your future self thank you for? Will he/she be glad that you made those choices, commitments and decisions?

Make up your mind today to do something that tomorrow, you will be glad you did. Cheers and have a great week ahead. Stay inspired @ 9jaflave

9jaflave Soliloquy - When Oprah Winfrey Meets Mother Theresa

What happens when a media mogul cum Philanthropist meets a nun giving hope to the poorest of the poor in faraway India?

What happens when a woman who has interviewed some of the world's  most powerful and influential people, meets a simple nun whose daily interaction is with the poor, hopeless and broken?

What happens when two women choose to serve the world with their uniqueness and bring light and life to many broken lives?

What happens when Oprah Winfrey meets Mother Theresa? You get a clear mix of the heartbeat and passion of motherhood.

When Oprah meets Mother Theresa, hope comes alive and dreams are reborn. One woman gave herself and served the poor till her death, the other woman is still giving herself and sharing her wealth with the world.

Mother Theresa said: " If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one", and Oprah says,
"What material success does is provide you with the ability to concentrate on other things that really matter. And that is being able to make a difference, not only in your own life, but in other people's lives."

When Oprah meets Mother Theresa, motherhood breaks boundaries, it goes beyond being a mother to your biological children, it becomes mothering from the heart and serving the world with who you truly are.

When Oprah meets Mother Theresa you get a clear mix of passion and love in abundance to shape, lift, nurture and build other lives.

So when you think of Oprah Winfrey and Mother Theresa, think of motherhood beyond boundaries, think of women who chose to impact the lives of children in search of love and hope, think of being a mother who will influence and shape the lives of the next generation positively, leaving footprints in the hearts of many forever.

Be Revolutionary And Dream Big - South African Female Entrepreneur

Maite Makgoba is the South African Female entrepreneur behind Momppy Mpoppy, a princess doll made and suited for young African girls. She received the idea while shopping for a doll for her niece. Makgoba believes this is Africa's moment and that opportunities abound to grow revolutionary businesses. Read her thoughts below:

“I mean, right now we are sitting in a position where the continent is ours. It is up to us to shape it, to direct where we want it to go. So wherever the direction, it has to be for the better of this continent.”

She attributes some of her company’s success to dreaming “crazy big” and advises other entrepreneurs to do the same. At the beginning of this year I said to my team that we are going to end up in Forbes Magazine. And we did it. “You have to think really big because that is how you challenge yourself. The bigger the dream, the more drive you put behind it.”
