LA Clippers Owner Donald Sterling Banned For Life, Fined $2.5 Million

Los Angeles Clippers owner, Donald Sterling has been banned for life from the NBA and fined $2.5 million for his recent racist comments caught on tape. He had come under fire for comments in a recording attributed to him, where a man asked his girlfriend, Vanessa Stiviano, not to broadcast her association with black people or bring black people to games.

Addressing the issue in a strongly worded press conference today, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said: "The man whose voice is heard on the recording and a second recording is Mr. Sterling. And that the hateful opinions voiced by that man are by Mr. Sterling. That they came from an NBA owner only heightens the damage and my personal outrage."

Accordingly I am banning Mr. Sterling for life with the Clippers association or the NBA. He may not attend any NBA games or any practices. He is barred from attending NBA board of Governor’s meetings or participating in any other league activity."That while Sterling still owns the Clippers, Silver said he would “Urge the Board of Governors to force Sterling to sell the Los Angeles Clippers basketball team and will do everything in my power to ensure that happens.”
