According to sources, when asked why he did not also perform the traditional marriage of Anita Isima, his fiancee on the same day, Paul disclosed that the main reason Peter got married before him was that the two women are from different tribes and different traditions and ways of doing things.

“Anita is Igbo, while Lola is Yoruba. The traditional marriage has to be in her (Anita’s) hometown. But we might be having a big, white wedding together”. Paul said.

FG Deploys Policemen to Federal Universities in Nigeria

The Federal Government versus ASUU showdown. Who will give in to the other? I think our government seems to be towing the path of Tyranny. But is this the best way to resolve the issue at hand?

The Federal Government of Nigeria has directed the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, to deploy policemen to all federal universities in the country in its bid to ensure resumption of academic activities in universities on or before December 4.

This development was disclosed at an emergency meeting the Federal Government held with all vice-chancellors of federal universities at the National Universities Commission building in Abuja on Friday. The Acting Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, and the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof Julius Okojie, were also at the meeting.

Saheed Balogun Takes Ex-Wife, Fathia, to Court Over Name

A tale of love gone sour and the controversy continues. Saheed Balogun has taken his ex-wife to court insisting that she drops his name. Fathia had also reportedly boasted in an interview last year, that nobody could stop her from using her name. She said:
“I laugh, my name is Fathia Balogun and it’s going to remain Balogun; nobody can ever change that and nobody can stop me from answering that name.

Few years ago, Saheed Balogun reportedly said he would soon stop his ex-wife, Fathia Balogun, from using his name. Saheed was quoted to have said “She is my ex. As for my name that she is still answering, the deed will be done soon. The Nigerian law says that after three or four years, you can do something about it. If somebody wants to keep my name, what of the new person coming in? This has nothing to do with grudges."
And now, it looks as if Saheed is set to do something about his threat.

Edo Governor, Adams Oshiomhole Tells Widow To "Go and Die"

This video shows Governor Adams Oshiomhole leading officials of the state to sanitize the city of Benin, the Edo State capital. In the course of his tour of duty, he came across a supposed 'roadside hawker' who claimed to be a widow.
The poor woman knelt before the imperial governor, a former labour leader, begging for her little means of livelihood to be saved. In a shocking statement, the governor told the widow to "go and die"! @ 0:48 mark

Whatever may be the context of the governor's statement, it was totally uncalled for. A real shame!

Prices of Imported Cars To Rise By 60%- Nigeria

The Punch reports that the Federal Government has released the details of new duties and levies payable on imported new and used vehicles as well as imported new tyres from next year- raising the tariff from 20% to 70%.

Although the new tariff on cars shows an increase of 48% over the old rate, dealers have estimated that the showroom price of an imported car will rise by 60% when other variables (costs) are added.

In other words, prices of imported cars currently being sold between N3m and N5m will shoot up to N4.8m and N8m; while tokunbo vehicles selling for N800,000 will rise to N1.28m.
This reminds me of IBB's toxic SAP policy- clearly another anti-poor policy.

Surgically Implanted Eye Jewelry (Photo)

First there was Ear Jewelry, then Nose Jewelry, some moved to Jewelry on their Teeth and Tongue while others opted for Jewelry on their Privates. And now we have Eye Jewelry. I wonder how far people will go in the name of fashion.

The “Safesight jewelry” procedure is now being offered by Dr. Emil Chynn of Park Avenue Laser Vision, New York. The surgery involves making a little incision in your sclera and inserting a thin piece of platinum into your eye.

But according to Fox News, the surgery is actually “pretty safe,” and Dr. Chynn says that the local bleeding will “go away in a couple days or a couple weeks.”

Chris Brown Kicked Out of Rehab for 'Acting Violently'

It appears Chris Brown is always in the news for the wrong reasons. The CNN reports that he was booted from a rehab facility this month after smashing his mother's car window during a family session, according to his probation officer.

Public Officers Will Be Allowed to Operate Private Foreign Accounts- New Bill

Nigeria is seriously in trouble with the present crop of self-centred leaders. Another bold-faced method of legalising corruption!

The bill that passed the 2nd reading on Wednesday sought to amend this law “so as to make the leave of the Bureau necessary for a public officer to maintain or operate a bank account outside Nigeria.”
