Pope Francis Takes 'Selfie' With Teenagers (Photo)

Many faithfuls like to think of the Pope as 'God on Earth'- who rather than mingle with mere mortals should stay on his high pedestal. But Pope Francis in his usual style, broke protocol to take an impromptu photo snap or selfie with a group of teenagers in the Church of Saint Augustine in Rome, on August 28, 2013. A once in a lifetime shot for the happy teenagers.

This week, the Oxford English Dictionary included the word "selfie" to denote a self-taken photograph on a smartphone.

Meet British Bushmeat Master

Meet Arthur Boyt, from Cornwall, UK, who has been eating roadkill for over 50 years. Mr Boyt sees no issue in eating dead animals, he does not kill them himself but rather picks them up from the side of the road after they have been run over on roads around his home in Bodmin Moor, Cornwall.

His long-suffering wife, Sue Boyt, 59, does not share his taste in meat as she is a vegetarian. Mr Boyt collects the animals with a shovel, skins them and cuts the meat into joints, often making them into a stew or sandwich.

His diet regularly includes fox, hare, sparrow, deer, pigeon and even a porcupine he brought back from a holiday in Canada. Check his DNA, this man has some Africa in his blood. LOL!

US and France Prepare to Strike Syria

U.S missile strikes against Syria could start tomorrow after U.N. weapons inspectors left the war-torn country earlier than expected.

The team of chemical weapons inspectors left their Damascus hotel early today - possibly for neighboring Lebanon - fueling speculation of an imminent attack.

It came as the White House delivered an astonishing snub to Britain following Thursday's shock Commons defeat, with sources saying David Cameron had 'bungled' securing British support for military action and that Britain 'cannot be counted on'.

New Clues Indicate Diana May Have Been Murdered (16 Years After)

Today is the 16th anniversary of Diana’s death and there are bunches of fresh flowers on the gilded gates leading to her London home, Kensington Palace. The flowers to commemorate the Princess may be fewer now, but there are still as many questions into her death as ever. Was the British Royal Family involved in Diana's Death?

Many accounts suggest that Diana’s death was no accident. According to Sue Reid (Special investigations Editor of Daily Mail), her investigations show that the paparazzi who supposedly hounded Diana to her death were not even in the Pont d'Alma tunnel at the time of the car crash.

Brisk Business at Lagos Fertility Clinics

According to the Chief Consultant and Head, Obstetrician and Fertility Department, Eko Hospitals, Dr. Adegbite Ogunmokun, male fertility has significantly declined in recent times.

He said: “If 10 couples come in, there will be problem with the male in 6 of them, using our parameter of 20 million sperm per millimetre. But 10 to 15 years ago, maybe about 4 out of 10 men would have problem.”

Punch correspondents, who visited some fertility centres in Lagos, learnt that more men are having low sperm count, thus necessitating the need for more volunteer donors. But because donors are scarce, fertility clinics offer as much as N50,000 to men who are interested in selling their sperm.

6-Year Old Boy's Eyes Gouged Out By Organ Trafficker- China

This makes my stomach turn. Organ traffickers gouged out the eyes of a 6-year-old boy to sell on China’s transplant black market, on Tuesday. Police said the child, Binbin, was drugged after being kidnapped while playing outside his home.

His family found him covered in blood and crying in pain 3 to 4 hours later. His eyes were found nearby with the corneas missing, police say, implying that an organ trafficker was behind the attack.

An entire eye cannot be transplanted, but a cornea could be vital for a patient with bad vision.

A Lady's Personal Experience With Sexual Abuse

The recent 'coming out' by Ese Walter about her affair with Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of COZA appears to have strengthened a number of women to share their personal experiences with so-called 'Men of God'. We hope it will inspire others to be strong when faced with such situations.

We should not be deceived- these 'abuse of power & privilege' is not exclusive to the church. It happens daily in schools, campuses, workplaces; in fact- everywhere men and women interact. On the other hand, it's not only men who are guilty. At least, I know of cases of women preying on men. "Abi dat one no be abuse!" Read Sally's personal story below:

Short Video: "I Have A Dream Speech"- Martin Luther King Jr

50 years ago, on August 28, 1963, more than 200,000 Americans gathered in Washington, D.C., for a political rally known as the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. The event was designed to shed light on the political and social challenges African Americans continued to face across the country.

The march, which became a key moment in the growing struggle for civil rights in the United States, culminated in Martin Luther King Jr.’s "I Have a Dream" speech, a spirited call for racial justice and equality. This speech always gets me teary-eyed- one of the greatest ever.

Madonna Tops Forbes 2013 List of The Top-Earning Celebrities

Though her latest album, MDNA, was a flop- Madonna sold fewer than 1 million copies of MDNA in the U.S. But the tour that the Material Girl launched to go along with her new album was a spectacular success.

The tour grossed $305 million and earned her the Top Touring Award at the Billboard Music Awards. Add to that strong merchandise sales, a clothing line, fragrance and investments in companies like Vita Coco and Madonna tops the list of the Highest Earning Celebrities. It is estimated the pop star brought in $125 million between June 2012 and June 2013.

Suspected Snake-Charmer Thief Caught in Lagos

I was busy minding my business today at about 1.00 pm when I saw a crowd of people on a busy Lagos street holding down an alleged thief and giving him the beating of his life. I moved near to see what was really happening, but behold, this was no ordinary thief.

The young man crouched on the floor holding tightly to a life snake. He was alleged to have collaborated with a pickpocket in robbing a man of his money, using the snake as a distraction. As usual the crowd was baying for his blood, but a few men among the mob prevented them.

Well, I managed to sneak some pictures just as the police arrived. The snake was killed by the mob, after which the police took the man away. Click below for more photos:

What Is It With The Etighi Dance?

Kate Henshaw doing the Etighi
For one moment laughter filled my heart and I could not but laugh my heart out. I was thrilled by the story my hubby just told me when he returned from his journey in this crazy city called Lagos. Was is it really funny or perhaps the wry wit?

We would sit every evening after dinner and share our experiences of the day. Some unforgettable, some annoying while others are boring or simply too good to be true. But on this particular day, I could not help but erupt in laughter as he thrilled me with the amusing sights of Lagos. It was funny but at the same time disheartening because it gave a picture of what idleness have turned the youths into- Etighi Dancers.

Video: Martin Luther King's Last Speech: "I've Been To The Mountaintop"

This is a video of the last speech of MLK Jr- a speech which is just as relevant as his "I have a dream speech". He hinted about his death. King spoke on April 3, 1968, at the Mason Temple (Church of God in Christ Headquarters) in Memphis, Tennessee. On the next day, King was assassinated.

The speech primarily concerns the Memphis Sanitation Strike. King calls for unity, economic actions, boycotts, and nonviolent protest, while challenging the United States to live up to its ideals. At the end of the speech, he discusses the possibility of an untimely death.

Miley Cyrus' VMA Performance Shocks Audience

It is said that- "a picture is worth more than a thousand words". This was so true yesterday when Miley Cyrus put up a raunchy performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The 20 year old pop star and actress was joined by Robin Thicke on stage to perform his hit track, Blurred Lines. Miley wasted no time stripping down to a tiny gold bikini 'twerking' and booty-shaking all over Robin, in a performance many thought was vulgar.

The looks on the Smith family say much- priceless expression. Click below to see Miley's gaffe:

Video: Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima Speaks on Child Marriage

Much dust has been raised on #childnotbride issues- Stella Damasus even made a fiery video supporting #childnotbride. But can we displace the culture and religious beliefs of a people by our own laws and moral standard? I doubt.

Still there should be a workable way of protecting female children given away in marriage. Whatever method adopted has to give consideration to the culture and religion of those who practice child marriage.

On the other hand, Barack Obama and David Cameron are insisting we support gay marriages/gay rights- not based on the Bible, Qur'an or religious beliefs- but based on human rights and civil liberty. Hmm. Which is the more bitter pill- child marriage or gay marriage? Comments please!

Photos: An Extreme Case of Wife Battery (UK)

After Recovery

This is really cold-blooded. A cage fighter beat his wife so badly after she sent him a text message saying their relationship was over that police thought they had been called to a murder scene.

Mother-of-two Charlotte Small, 33, was so scared that Gary Marcel, 46, would attack her that she had already entered 999 into her phone - but he immediately snatched it off her.

The thug forced his way into Miss Small's home and repeatedly kicked and punched her in the face - shouting 'no one will want you now'.

The adolescent stowaway was immediately arrested by security officials at the airport.
